Driving through the farmlands of the midwest in late summer, We’d come across rickety old vegetable stands to buy fresh produce. The smell of peppers would surround us with the first step out of the car. Bushels of red, green and yellow peppers along with tomatoes and corn would be lined up for the picking. Straight from the earth, there was something special about picking through them and filling up a brown paper bag.
